The Cost of Care - Can Singaporean households continue to depend on their current model of care? ARI partner event
Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore, holds an outreach event to discuss the interactions and findings of our Migrating out of Poverty - Migration Industry - project.
By 2030, there will only be 2.1 working-age citizens supporting each citizen aged 65 and above—in comparison to 4.8 in 2015. In the last decade, Singapore has been characterised by two perennial and intersecting concerns: firstly, what can we do to bump up the faltering birth rate? Secondly, how do we create a society which actively accommodates and incorporates a rapidly ageing population?
OVERVIEW OF PROGRAMME
There will be a panel accompanied by a multimedia exhibition which showcases the stories of five employment agents in Singapore with highly variegated agency models, strategies, and features. Attendants are invited to come early to view this exhibition before the symposium formally begins or linger to see the photographs and videos after it ends.
The panel lineup will open with a keynote speaker on the landscape of domestic work and care in Singapore and feature a panel of employment agents operating different agency models to share their expertise. The moderator will facilitate a discussion amongst panelists, followed by a question and answer session.
