Migrating out of Poverty partner - Asia Research Institute (ARI) - within the National University of Singapore (NUS) is holding a dissemination event / forum / discussion around recent research on the migration industry in Singapore. Kellynn Wee and Charmian Goh will be initiating and leading the discussion around the following:

• The Employment Agencies Act mandates that a domestic worker should only pay two months' salary as a service fee to her Singapore agent. 

• Why do domestic workers often end up paying 7-9 months of salary deductions? 

• What are some common employment agency models in Singapore and how does this affect the way that migrant domestic workers are recruited, matched, and treated? 

• What exactly are the costs and fees involved in the case of new hires, replacements, and transfers? What impact does this have on migrant domestic workers?
