Monday 21 September 13:00 until 14:00
Global Studies Resource Centre - Arts C
Speaker: Dr Robert Nurick and Sochanny Hak
Part of the series: Migrating out of Poverty - Cambodia
In June 2014, the Thai military Junta announced that migrants without papers would be required to leave the country. Over the next week more than 200,000 Cambodians fled or were deported from Thailand and returned to Cambodia. Through interviews with returned migrants and members of migrant sending we assess the impacts of involuntary return of migration on migrants and their families. Specifically, we explore the gender relations with regards to decision making on migration and the impacts that the return to Cambodia has had on these relations and livelihood strategies.
